Heath Calhoun, Namesake of The Crown Royal Presents The Heath Calhoun 400, Visits Richmond International Raceway
Heath Calhoun unveilved the official logo of his race on the Richmond International Raceway pace car.
Heath Calhoun, winner of the Crown Royal “Your Name Here” contest and namesake of the Crown Royal Presents The Heath Calhoun 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway, was in Richmond Thursday afternoon for a first-hand look at America’s Premier Short Track. Calhoun unveiled the official race logo on the pace car, took some laps around the ¾-mile D-Shaped oval in the pace car, participated in media interviews and radio call-ins and visited with the track’s staff.
Calhoun, a retired member of the Army and Purple Heart recipient, was chosen as the grand-prize winner of the annual Crown Royal “Your Name Here” contest, making the May 1 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race the Crown Royal Presents The Heath Calhoun 400. A former member of the 101st Airborne unit and a veteran of the Iraq war, Calhoun was severely injured when a rocket-propelled grenade hit his Humvee in 2003, resulting in the amputation of both his legs above the knee. He was also honored with the George C. Lang Award for Courage.
When Calhoun returns to Richmond in just two weeks, he will be joined by the stars of NASCAR for Richmond International Raceway’s season-opening doubleheader, featuring the BUBBA burger 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Friday night, April 30 and the Crown Royal Presents The Heath Calhoun 400 “under the lights” on Saturday night, May 1.

Tickets are also available for the Friday, April 30, BUBBA burger 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race “under the lights.” Friday’s ticket also includes Wawa Pole Qualifying and practice for the Sprint Cup Series and NBC12 Pole Qualifying and practice for the Nationwide Series. Friday’s advance tickets are $40 (reserved) and $30 (general admission). Children 12 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult on Friday only.
