Track Hosting Fourth Annual Blood Drive Thursday, September 9
Save a life by donating blood on Thursday, September 9 at the track.
Richmond International Raceway will host its annual Drive for Life, a Virginia Blood Services blood drive, on Thursday, September 9, from noon to 5 p.m. in the historic Old Dominion Building. Participants should enter the property at Gate 4, off of Laburnum Avenue. Richmond International Raceway’s Drive for Life is a partnership between the track and Virginia Blood Services. “Richmond International Raceway values our position in this community and we are always looking for ways to make the Greater Richmond Metropolitan Area a better place to live,” said track president Doug Fritz. “By again partnering with Virginia Blood Services, we will be able to collect much-needed blood for Virginia residents. I encourage everyone to help support this community effort by participating in Richmond International Raceway’s Drive for Life.”
As a special incentive, all donors will receive a Pace Car ride voucher, valid on Wednesday, September 15, beginning at 3:30 p.m. (weather permitting). Richmond International Raceway’s Drive for Life has collected more than 400 units of blood during its four year span.

Richmond International Raceway’s Drive for Life
will kick off the Post-911 GI Bill NASCAR Weekend at Richmond, Septemer 10-11. The Saturday night, September 11, Air Guard 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race marks “One Last Race to Make The Chase.” Once the checkered flag drops, the field will be set for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Tickets are on sale now, including a limited number of $40 seats.
The Post-9/11 GI Bill NASCAR Weekend at Richmond begins on Friday, September 10, with a full day of on-track activity, including WRIC-TV8 Pole Qualifying and practice for the Nationwide Series, Fas Mart Pole Qualifying and practice for the Sprint Cup Series and the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race “under the lights.” Children 12 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult in general admission sections on Friday only.
