Doug Fritz Joining Fans for a Game of Cornhole at Richmond Flying Squirrels Baseball Opening Night
Fritz Will Also Throw Out First Pitch Friday Night
Doug Fritz is warming up to play cornhole and throw out the first pitch during the Flying Squirrels' opening homestand.
Known around the Richmond International Raceway offices for his pinpoint accuracy and fierce competitiveness involving recreational activities, track president Doug Fritz is emerging from his Spring Training rituals and getting the nod for the Richmond Flying Squirrels’ season-opening home games this week.
Tomorrow night, prior to the Flying Squirrels’ home-opener against the New Britain Rock Cats, Fritz is inviting fans to join him outside The Diamond near the main entrance to play the classic tailgating game Cornhole, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. He’ll even sign autographs and talk NASCAR racing with fans stopping by on the way into the game.
On Friday night, Fritz takes the mound to throw out the first pitch prior to the second game of the series against New Britain. Tickets for both games are available online at www.squirrelsbaseball.com or by calling 804-359-3866.

On Friday night, April 29th, the NASCAR Nationwide Series returns for the BUBBA burger 250 race “under the lights.” Friday’s ticket includes Wawa Pole Qualifying and practice for the Sprint Cup Series, as well as NBC12 Pole Qualifying and practice for the Nationwide Series. Children 12 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult in general admission sections on Friday.
The weekend kicks off with a doubleheader on Thursday night, April 28th, beginning with the Blue Ox 100 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race, followed by the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown.
