Ryan Newman Fastest in Final Sprint Cup Series Practice at RIR
Farm Bureau Insurance Pole Qualifying On the Docket for 5:10 PM This Afternoon
Newman leads final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice.
Ryan Newman led the field in today’s final practice for the TOYOTA OWNERS 400 NASCAR Sprint Series race set for tomorrow night at Richmond International Raceway. Newman posted a speed of 124.235 mph. Hot on his heels at 123.468 was Tony Stewart. Rounding out the top 5 are Dale Earnhardt Jr., Joey Logano, and Kasey Kahne. Tickets are still available for the TOYOTA OWNERS 400, set for 7:00 p.m.
Farm Bureau Insurance Pole Qualifying gets underway at 5:10 p.m. this afternoon. The event will be the first of its kind at RIR, consisting of two knockout qualifying rounds. The first qualifying elimination round will be 30 minutes in duration and includes all cars. The 12 cars that post the fastest single lap time from the first qualifying round will advance to the second and final round. Following a 10-minute break, the second and final qualifying round will last 10 minutes and the fastest single lap time posted will determine positions 1st through 12th in descending order.
