Checkered Flag 5K & Kids Fun Run Kicks Off April Race Weekend
The Checkered Flag 5K & Kids Fun Run will kick off the April spring race weekend in Richmond on Thursday, April 27.
Bon Secours joins Richmond International Raceway as an official sponsor of the inaugural Checkered Flag 5K & Kids Fun Run. Participants of this new family race, now have the opportunity to run where NASCAR legends have run.
As a sponsor for the Checkered Flag 5K, Bon Secours continues their long-time support of the Richmond community. An organization known for bringing compassion to health care and helping people live a life of health and wholeness, Bon Secours is a great founding partner for this new 5K event. The Checkered Flag 5K will give participants a unique view of the track, but also helps the local community through RIR’s charitable arm, RIR Cares.

The Checkered Flag 5K & Kids Fun Run will take place on Thursday, April 27 at 6:30 p.m. Participants will cross the historic Richmond finish line days before NASCAR’s best take to the track in the TOYOTA OWNERS 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race and the ToyotaCare 250 Dash4Cash NASCAR XFINITY Series Dash4Cash race. This family-friendly race gives families the opportunity to create their own memories at RIR.
After crossing the finish line, participants will celebrate with post-race festivities including photos in Gatorade Victory Lane, food trucks and craft beer on pit road, and receive an official Checkered Flag 5K & Kids Fun Run hat.

Early bird registration is $25 through March 31. Day of registration fees are $35. The half-mile Kids Fun Run registration fee is $10 for children aged 12 and under. All ages are invited to participate in the 5K. With each registration, participants will receive a free ticket to the ToyotaCare 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series Dash4Cash race on April 29.

Fans can now purchase tickets to NASCAR’s return to Richmond on April 28, 29, and 30. The action starts with Pole Day on April 28, followed by the ToyotaCare 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series Dash4Cash race on Saturday, April 29 at 1 p.m. Kids 12 and younger are free in general admission seating areas for the ToyotaCare 250. Richmond’s spring weekend concludes with the TOYOTA OWNERS 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday, April 30 at 2 p.m.
Richmond will crown the inaugural Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular season champion over Fan Appreciation Weekend on September 8-9. The Federated Auto Parts 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on Saturday, September 9, and the Virginia529 College Savings 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series race on Friday, September 8 is presented by Who’s Your Driver.
