Richmond International Raceway, known as America’s Premier Short Track, offers night racing action and a commitment to the fan experience. One of the most popular facilities among drivers and fans in all of motorsports, Richmond International Raceway annually hosts two NASCAR Doubleheader weekends, featuring the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series, under the lights on a ¾-mile D-Shaped oval. The unique layout traditionally produces exciting side-by-side racing, yet drivers reach high enough speeds for a superspeedway feel.

60 feet with a 10-foot apron.

BANKING:

14 degrees in turns, eight degrees at starting line on 1,290-foot front stretch, two degrees on 860-foot back stretch.

RADIUS OF TURNS:

Turns 1 and 4: 1198.68.  Turns 2 and 3: 365.00

PIT ROAD:

64-foot width with 43 concrete pit stalls, 28’ x 19’.

SEATING:

70,266 total seats, plus 680 seats that are part of the TORQUE Club. There are also 40 luxury suites.

PARKING:

Richmond International Raceway has more than 800 acres of free parking.

Dennis Bickmeier

Name:  Dennis Bickmeier

Family: Wife Erin and children Joshua, Kaitlyn, Nathan

Education: Ohio University Scripps School of Journalism graduate and master’s degree in Sports Administration

Background:
A 25-year veteran in the public relations and communications field, Bickmeier spent time with the former Anaheim Angels, now the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, both Walt Disney Company-owned franchises at the time. He has also held positions with the Big West Conference, Orange County Sports Association, Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Bickmeier joined Richmond International Raceway in July 2011, after serving nearly four years as the Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing at Michigan International Speedway, where he oversaw communications, corporate partnership sales and ticket sales and operations. 

His career with International Speedway Corporation initially began in 1999 as the Public Relations Director at Auto Club Speedway.  During his time at the Southern California-based speedway, Bickmeier became an adjunct faculty member in the University of San Francisco’s Sports Management class teaching the Strategic Communications and Sports Public Relations elective.
