Rules for “Richmond International Raceway’s National Anthem Contest”
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. This is a contest of skill. Entries will be accepted via mail and email beginning on July 16, 2010 12:00 A.M. EDT and ending on August 6, 2010 at 11:59 P.M. EDT and by an open casting audition on August 6, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. EDT to 8:00 P.M. EDT. Contestants can enter three (3) ways: (1) by mail by submitting an acapella rendition of the National Anthem on a CD to Richmond International Raceway, Attn: National Anthem Contest, 600 E. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23222; (2) by email by submitting an acapella rendition of the National Anthem as an attachment to email@example.com; and (3) by performing at an open casting audition on August 6, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. EST to 8:00 P.M. EST at Short Pump Town Center, 11800 West Broad St., Richmond, VA 23233. Only one (1) entry per person permitted. All entry forms must include a phone number and email address in order for Richmond International Raceway, Inc. to inform the participant if he/she has been invited to perform at the final judging round. Richmond International Raceway, Inc. is not responsible for lost, late, mutilated, misdirected, or postage-due entries. Incomplete, illegible, or fraudulent entries will not be considered. Contest open to all legal residents of the United States. Employees of Richmond International Raceway, Inc and its parent, limited liability, subsidiary, or related companies, WKHK, and WRIC-TV8 and members of their immediate families may not participate.
Selection format will consist of three rounds. The first round consists of an evaluation of the musical submissions via mail or email or an evaluation of the contestant through the open casting audition. If chosen to continue to the second round, the contestant(s) will be notified via phone or email by August 7, 2010 at 11:59 P.M. EDT. The second round will consist of a live performance by the contestant(s) of a song of his/her choice on either August 10, 2010 or August 17, 2010 at the Short Pump Town Center, 11800 West Broad St., Richmond, VA 23233 (6:00 P.M. EDT to 8:00 P.M. EDT). If chosen to continue to the third and final round, the contestant(s) will be notified via phone or email by August 21, 2010 at 11:59 P.M. EST. The third round will consist of a live performance by the contestant of a song of his/her choice on August 24, 2010 at the Short Pump Town Center, 11800 West Broad St., Richmond, VA 23233 (6:00 P.M. EDT to 8:00 P.M. EDT). The winner will be selected from among all eligible entries by a panel of judges as determined by the Sponsors (“Judges”). All decisions of the Judges shall be made in the sole discretion of the Judges and are final. Contestants will be judged on their ability to sing an acapella version of the National Anthem. The contest winner will be notified in person on August 27, 2010.
One (1) Grand Prize winner will sing the National Anthem at the NASCAR Nationwide Series Virginia 529 College Savings 250 race scheduled to be conducted at Richmond International Raceway® on Saturday, September 10, 2010.
All expenses (including without limitation any necessary transportation and lodging costs) are the responsibility of prize winner. Prize winner must present personal identification bearing his/her photograph, name, age, and address, and sign a declaration of eligibility and liability release in order to take delivery of any prize. Prizes are not transferable. No substitution of prizes. In the event any race is postponed, changed, or canceled in whole or in part, no prize substitution or other compensation will be provided. If the winner is unable to perform the National Anthem on September 10, 2010 as described above or cannot be reached by telephone by September 5, 2010, than an alternate winner will be selected by the Judges. By submitting an Entry, each entrant agrees Sponsor shall own the Entry submitted (including all rights embodied therein) and that it and its designees may exploit, edit, modify, and distribute the Entry and all elements of such Entry, including, without limitation, the names and likenesses of any persons or locations embodied therein, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, worldwide, in perpetuity without compensation, permission or notification to entrant or any third party. All entries and performances (including without limitation auditions and actual performance) shall immediately upon submission or performance become the sole property of Richmond International Raceway, Inc. and Richmond International Raceway, Inc. shall have all right, title and interest in such items.
By entering this contest prize winner agrees: (1) to release Richmond International Raceway, Inc., WKHK, and WRIC-TV8, and their respective parent, limited liability, subsidiary and affiliated companies and their respective shareholders, officers, directors, employees, agents, members, and assigns from liability of any kind or nature for any loss, claims, damages or injuries of any kind associated with participation in this contest or with acceptance and use of any prize: and (2) to be bound by these rules and any decisions of the sponsor or promoter relating to the participation in the contest, selection of winners and awarding of prizes, whose decisions are final. Acceptance of any prize constitutes permission to use winner’s name, biographical information, and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and promotion without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. In order to claim prize, additional releases and/or waivers of liability required by Richmond International Raceway, Inc. and/or any applicable sanctioning body shall be required as appropriate.
