SunTrust to Sponsor IndyCar Series Race at Richmond International Raceway for Seventh Consecutive Year

XM Partners with SunTrust as Presenting Sponsor for Second Year

For the seventh consecutive year, SunTrust Banks, Inc. will serve as the title sponsor for the IndyCar® Series race at Richmond International Raceway. And for the second year in a row, SunTrust will partner with XM Satellite Radio to showcase the SunTrust Indy Challenge Presented by XM "under the lights" on Saturday, June 30, as part of the fastest weekend of racing at Richmond International Raceway. SunTrust's participation in the open-wheel weekend at America's Premier Short Track spans back to the very first IndyCar Series race at Richmond International Raceway in 2001.

"We are excited to have both SunTrust and XM on board for our IndyCar Series race again this year," said track president Doug Fritz. "For the seventh consecutive year, we are proud to have such a great partner in SunTrust sponsor the fastest race at Richmond International Raceway. Having XM back for the second year continues to help us reach an even wider audience on our IndyCar Series weekend."

"SunTrust prides itself on supporting the communities we serve through the sponsorship of entertainment, educational and cultural events," said Michael Newbrand, Director of Marketing for SunTrust Mid-Atlantic. "We are proud to say this is our seventh consecutive year of sponsoring the IndyCar Series race at Richmond International Raceway and we are looking forward to another thrilling weekend."

"XM is committed to broadcasting the best in racing action to our millions of subscribers across the country," said George Perry, director of partnership marketing for XM. "As the exclusive satellite radio provider for the IndyCar Series, we're pleased to partner with SunTrust to bring the SunTrust Indy Challenge Presented by XM to fans at Richmond International Raceway and nationwide."

The SunTrust Indy Challenge Presented by XM, which features the same drivers as the Indianapolis 500, is the ninth of 17 races on the IndyCar Series schedule. Running at more than 170 mph on the shortest track on the circuit, Richmond International Raceway (3/4-mile) features some of the most exciting action in the series. The SunTrust Indy Challenge Presented by XM is part two of a Saturday doubleheader "under the lights." The USAC Silver Crown Series race will run prior to the IndyCar race. The weekend starts Friday, June 29 with NBC12 Day, which includes qualifying for the IndyCar Series race, followed by the USAC National Sprint Car Series race.

All tickets for Friday's NBC12 Day, which includes practice and qualifying for the SunTrust Indy Challenge Presented by XM and the USAC National Sprint Car Series race are just $15 and include an autograph session with all of the IndyCar Series drivers, including Danica Patrick, Marco Andretti, Dan Wheldon, Helio Castroneves and 2006 SunTrust Indy Challenge Presented by XM champion, 2006 Indianapolis 500 winner and 2006 IndyCar Series champion, Sam Hornish Jr. Tickets for Saturday night's SunTrust Indy Challenge Presented by XM and the USAC Silver Crown Series race are just $35 for reserved seating and only $30 for general admission. Children 12 and under are admitted free in general admission sections with a ticketed adult on both nights. Tickets are available now by calling 1-866-455-RACE (7223) or logging onto www.rir.com.
