IndyCar® Series star Danica Patrick with a shaved head? While she's not a fan of the look made famous by Demi Moore in G.I. Jane or more recently, Britney Spears, if it is up to her, she'd much prefer to keep the hair on her head.

But her teammates at Andretti Green Racing-Dario Franchitti, Tony Kanaan and Marco Andretti- have other ideas. Much to her chagrin, her teammates have vowed to shave her head once she captures her first series win. Fans can go to www.indycar.com and vote for which new look, including Patrick with a shaved head, they might prefer.

But now Richmond International Raceway president Doug Fritz is getting into the act to show his support for Patrick. Fritz plans to join Patrick in celebrating her first win if she takes the checkered Saturday, June 30 at Richmond International Raceway in the SunTrust Indy Challenge Presented by XM (see photo of what Fritz might look like with a shaved head).

"We're going to start a craze," Patrick said. "Forget Britney (Spears)."

"I've been friends with my teammates for a long time, but they are a bit mischievous. They know what pushes my buttons and what doesn't and obviously, they know that I like my hair. They know that's a way to push my buttons. I just got a haircut and I wondered what it would look like if it was short or something. I don't know about (being) bald. It's not very feminine. But I think the long looks best," Patrick said.

"If she wins at Richmond International Raceway, I'll get my head shaved in Gatorade Victory Lane right along with her," Fritz said. "I like my hair too and I'd rather keep it like Danica wants to, but if she wins this weekend, I'm all for it."

Could this race be "the one" for Patrick? "I'm excited about Richmond. I have always liked short ovals, I think they're a lot of fun. If you have a good car you can really go to the front and I think I can do that."

Patrick will make her third career Richmond International Raceway start this weekend "under the lights." She finished 10th in 2005, her rookie season on the ¾-mile track and 15th in 2006.

Tickets are still available to see Patrick try to race her way to the checkered flag at Richmond International Raceway. Reserved seats can be purchased for $35 and general admission seats are only $30. Children 12 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult in the general admission sections.

Tickets are also available for NBC12 Day on Friday, June 29, which includes USAC practice, IndyCar Series practice and qualifying for the SunTrust Indy Challenge Presented by XM and the USAC National Sprint Car Series race. All tickets are $15 and children 12 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult. Friday's ticket also includes an autograph session with all of the IndyCar Series drivers running in Saturday night's race "under the lights."
