Franchitti on Pole for SunTrust Indy Challenge presented by XM

Rain washed away pole qualifying for the IndyCar® Series at Richmond International Raceway. The starting lineup for the SunTrust Indy Challenge presented by XM will be set by the current entrant point standings. As a result, 2007 Indy 500 winner #27 Dario Franchitti will start tomorrow's race from the pole position.

Andretti Green Racing teammate #11 Tony Kanaan will start from the outside of row one. Target Chip Ganassi Racing teammates #9 Scott Dixon and #10 Dan Wheldon fill out the second row, ahead of Team Penske teammates #6 Sam Hornish Jr. and #3 Helio Castroneves who will take off from the third row.

The big loser of today's rainout is #26 Andretti Green Racing's Marco Andretti, who was one of the fastest cars during practice and favorite for the pole. Because of the difficult time he has had up to this point in the season, Marco will only be starting on the outside of row 7, in 14th position.

Start your day early at Richmond International Raceway on Saturday. The ticket windows will open at 9:00 a.m. and the Fan Fest area opens at 10:00 a.m.

The SunTrust Indy Challenge presented by XM is the ninth in a 17-race season for the IndyCar® Series. The green flag will fly on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., sending the field out for 250 laps "Under the Lights," chasing after more than $1 Million in posted awards.

The race will be broadcast live on ESPN and on the IMS Radio Network: WRVA 1140 AM Richmond; XM Satellite Radio Channel 144.
